Power Reading Group: 65,000 Years

The Power Institute's regular reading group, focusing on new ideas and research in art history and visual culture.
"The story is born in and of the break. The little black characters that make up the story are an artifice - speaking of but never becoming the art - superimposed onto the white screen, onto white paper, onto what looks like nothing but isn't. Coming from what has been called and made to seem like nothing - by the leitmotifs of settler colonialism: terra nullius, dispossession, assimilation, Native Title - this story is insistent, uneasy and provisional, lingering in the rupture that is the white page. The story is always in excess of this textual enclosure."
-Tristen Harwood, "From landscape to landrelation"
